About Classes
Our weekly classes meet for 3 hours and are open to all skill levels. The primary goal is to explore, experiment, and have fun with clay in a relaxed, supportive environment. We work with iron-rich stoneware and fire to cone 6 (about 2164°F), ensuring all finished pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe. Your class includes clay, glazes, firings, and full access to the studio during open hours - giving you everything you need to create your work from start to finish. Classes also offer guidance on techniques like handbuilding, wheel-throwing, and surface decoration, so you can build your skills while enjoying the creative process.
Classes at Highland are often approached through an "academic" lens - where we will discuss form and function.
An added luxury to this classes is the built in library that is the gallery. This resource is great for exploring ideas and getting a tangible sense for how these objects are made.
