Kait Arndt

Kait Arndt is a ceramic artist, educator, and researcher whose work explores the relationship between utility, memory, and material culture. Drawing from historical ceramic traditions, vernacular objects, and contemporary design, she investigates how functional forms balance the hand of the maker and the “designed”. Her practice includes slip-casting and mold-making to create objects that balance precision with evidence of the handmade.

Arndt is an Assistant Professor of Ceramics at the University of Wyoming, where she teaches courses ranging from beginning ceramics to advanced studio practices while mentoring emerging artists and overseeing technical aspects of the ceramics program. Alongside her teaching, she maintains an active studio practice and pursues international research investigating historical and contemporary ceramic production. Recent research has focused on ceramic traditions in Malaysia, Taiwan, China, and the United Kingdom, examining the movement of materials, techniques, and cultural exchange across regions.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in museums, galleries, and juried exhibitions, including the NCECA Annual Exhibition, the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Clay Art Center, Baltimore Clayworks, the Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum in China, and numerous invitational and juried exhibitions throughout the United States. She has also served as a curator, workshop instructor, and artist-in-residence, contributing to conversations surrounding contemporary ceramics and the evolving role of craft.

Arndt earned a BFA in Ceramics and Graphic Design from Utah State University (2010) and an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Missouri (2016). She currently lives and works in Laramie, Wyoming.
